17This restaurant is located right next door to the Pedro St James gift shop. Sat outside, but in the shade. Enjoyed a Cliffside & then a Bluff Bramble. Ordered the 1780 sandwich, but they were out of chicken, so they subbed it with pulled beef instead. Delicious! Also got an order of Lobster Lollipops, which were like corn dogs, but with lobster in the middle. So yummy! They also brought out a special surprise of sticky toffee pudding & chocolate lava cake. Thank you so much for making my day special.
Amazing food and atmosphere. Maybe best view in the island. The bluff bap was incredible. The staff super friendly and attentive. Would come again.
The server was very pleasant and the food was delicious. I had ackee, codfish, calaloo, and fried breadfruit.
The only criticism was it is hard to find. You have to know where it is as the signs are very small. To be fair, as a tourist from a right hand drive country, it might be easier for locals.
My wife wanted a great meal and a sunset. We sat at one of the outdoor tables for a drink and watched an amazing sunset. We moved inside and had the catch of the day which was red snapper and our favorite fish. Perfectly cooked, beautiful presentation, and excellent sides.
It’s a shame it wasn’t more crowded but we are here during the slow season. For us, it was a perfect end to a great day.
The service is Terrible. We had to look for the waitress to reminded her we were there. Wait long for appetiser, wait long for drinks, and later than one hour of being there the waitress came to be reminded of our dinner order! We LEFT after 1: 40min. The food never arrived to the table.
Stunning location on the water. Brunch was incredibly fresh and service is wonderful. Can't complain about much when you're in the Caymans!
We recently enjoyed a delightful meal at the Thatch & Barrel in the Cayman Islands. With outside seating overlooking the ocean, it's the perfect spot to unwind. The food is delicious, especially the fresh bread basket, generously portioned lobster benny, and tasty bluff bap.
The service was good, with typical Caymanian friendliness, but they didn't have milk for our iced coffee. We settled for heavy cream instead, which wasn't ideal.
Overall, Thatch & Barrel earns a solid 4 out of 5 stars for its beautiful setting, delicious food, and friendly service. Despite the minor coffee issue, I highly recommend it!
This restaurant has a nice indoor dining area as well as outdoor seating on a beautiful shoreline. The scene was gorgeous! We sat outdoors and watched sunset but shortly thereafter started to get bitten by mosquitoes. We shoukd have brought repellent or gone indoors.
We had grilled wahoo with rice and a Caribbean-style amaranth leaf dish called callalloo. Portions were ample but one fish dish was overcooked and dry while the other was pink and sushi-like in the middle. The callalloo was delicious.
We also shared a dessert of warm toffee cake with rum-raisin ice cream. It was nicely presented and tasty.
Overall, we thought it was a decent meal but like most things on this island, seemed quite overpriced at $84 total including tip.
Brought my wife here for her birthday. It was a Thursday evening. The outdoor area was was about half full. We came here for dinner and to catch the sunset.
Firstly, awesome spot perched near a short cliff overlooking the ocean. Wonderful place to catch the sunset. The outdoor area has nice tables arranged on perfectly manicured grass. The tables are not crowded together. The inside restaurant area was seen in passing, bit looked fantastic, appeared super clean and was well appointed.
The food was top notch. It did not disappoint except that there wasn't more. Well prepared, presented nicely with balanced flavor.
The service could be a more speedy, our glasses ran dry a bit, but I think she was new and still learning the ropes. Nothing to complain a about and in general, friendly and courteous.
Would I come here again, YES. Do I recommend. YES. It is a great place in a great area.
Amazing hidden gem- unbeatable view, quiet outdoor seating and ambiance, food was top notch. Service was phenomenal- Estella was attentive, friendly and made us feel welcome. Would recommend for folks looking to go off the beaten ‘touristy’ path of GC.
Their happy hours are a great deal with a beautiful view. Highly recommend at 8 CI a drink
The food, the ambience, the live music. I was pleasantly surprised seen that it was my first visit. I enjoyed the food and rocked to the saxophonist music all evening. Definitely 10/10
Thatch and Barrel was a great spot to dine and I highly recommend when visiting the Cayman Islands. The restaurant was located in the Pedro St. James Historic District located in Savannah which is an easy ride from George Town or Rum Point.
The outdoor seating afforded a beautiful view of the ocean plus the opportunity to experience a memorable sunset. The food and service here was excellent and in our opinion, the best compared to other eateries we visited during our stay.
Please do yourself a favor and don’t go out of your way to visit this restaurant. Service absolutely SUCKED. The waiter was asked to do her job at least three times and we had to ask another waiter multiple times for help. Food wasn’t great.
Fried Brie, plantain pizza, and the snapper sandwich was amazing! Would definitely recommend!
By far the best pasta I’ve had on the island. The atmosphere is amazing with a perfect view of the ocean. Highly highly recommend going here. Was perfect!
Stopped in for a rum tasting at the bar. Staff was excellent and super helpful. Wish we could have stayed for lunch as the food presentation looked amazing.
